Description
Returning to the UK for the first time in 20 years, the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine are offering a powerful moment of solidarity this October at The Bridgewater Hall. Founded in 1918, the orchestra has been a central part of music in Ukraine and, right now, their position couldn’t be more important.
The performance will be led by artistic director Volodymyr Sirenko who will guide the orchestra through a programme centred on one of the most beloved concertos in the repertoire - Max Bruch’s Violin Concerto No.1, featuring recent BBC New Generation Artist Aleksey Semenenko.
The concert opens with a dramatic symphonic poem by Boris Lyatoshynsky, the founding father of Ukrainian contemporary music – and ends with the soaring First Symphony from Jean Sibelius.
